Military Career
Enlistment and Initial Training (2018)
Christopher began his military career in 2018, enlisting in the United States Air Force as a Cyber Systems Operator. He shipped off to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, where he volunteered for a band flight based on his extensive musical background: three years of middle school snare drum. His reasoning was simple: band practice seemed preferable to marching under the Texas summer sun. He was correct.
After completing basic training, Christopher attended technical training at Keesler Air Force Base and graduated later that same year.
52d Communications Squadron – Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany (2019–2021)
Christopher’s first duty assignment was with the 52d Communications Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, where he served as a Server Administrator. His responsibilities included updating, managing, and maintaining servers, as well as providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 help desk support for client systems.
This assignment gave him his first practical experience applying his technical training while also learning how to navigate military life. During this period, he deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, where he supported the forward headquarters of United States Central Command (CENTCOM) as a Cyber Support Staff member.
While stationed in Germany, Christopher also participated in a base theater production of The Hound of the Baskervilles, portraying Sherlock Holmes. It was elementary, my dear reader.
Transfer to the United States Space Force (February 2020)
In February 2020, Christopher transferred to the newly established United States Space Force, becoming a Defensive Cyber Operator. He was part of the first wave of transfers into the new branch.
621st Air Control Squadron – Republic of Korea (2021–2022)
Christopher’s next assignment took him to the 621st Air Control Squadron in the Republic of Korea, where he served as a Communication Systems Operator. In this role, he helped maintain the peninsula-wide radar and radio systems used to track and communicate with aircraft across the Korean AOR.
As the only Space Force member assigned to the squadron, he was given the unofficial but unavoidable nickname “Spaceman” until receiving his official callsign, “BOPS”, short for “Bringer of Plagues and Snacks.”
64th Cyberspace Squadron – Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado (2022–2024)
After Korea, Christopher was assigned to the 64th Cyberspace Squadron at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado, where he continued to serve as a Defensive Cyber Operator. During this assignment, he worked as both a Systems Analyst and Crew Lead for the team responsible for defending the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS), the United States’ strategic missile warning system.
260th Enterprise Operations Squadron – Fort Belvoir, Virginia (2024–Present)
Christopher was later assigned to the 260th Enterprise Operations Squadron at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. After initially serving in a defensive cyber role, he was selected to become a Communications Mission Director.
In this position, he tracks, coordinates, reports, and manages maintenance activities and outages across a worldwide communications network.
